“I want to repeat,” Putin says about the 2024 presidential elections in Russia.

On December 08, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, announced in an award ceremony that he would run for the 2024 presidential elections, sending a powerful message to the international world. He further said that; “I want to repeat, I have had different thoughts at different times about this. But I understand that today there is no other way, so I will run for president of the Russian Federation.”

He will become president of Russia, the world’s most powerful nuclear state, for six more years. He is the most potent candidate for the presidential election, and it will be his fifth term as president, which will allow him to continue leading Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Putin is 71 years old. If he wins the 2024 presidential elections, he will continue his 24-year leadership of Russia. He was prime minister for eight years in his 24-year leadership of Russia. After Joseph Stalin, he was the longest-serving ruler of Russia. Vladimir Putin, a former intelligence officer, started his political career in 1991 and became president of Russia in 2012. He was also the prime minister of Russia from 1999 to 2000 and from 2008 to 2012.

Recently, a Kremlin spokesperson also said that many people forced Putin to run for the 2024 presidential elections in Russia. Russia’s federation council upper house announced March 17 for the vote. Despite the Russia-Ukraine war, Putin’s approval is a Russian president rating above 80 %. According to the statistics survey, about 38 % of Russians think that Putin is successful in improving combat capability and reforming the armed forces. 34 % of people are a favorer of Putin regarding solving the Chechen crisis. 32 % of the people of Russia think that Putin is successful in eliminating the danger of terrorism in the country. 28 % of Russians believe that Putin is the man who rules the land and maintains a calm political environment. 25 % of Russians think that their country’s economic development has improved since Putin’s presidency. 25 % of Russian is satisfied with Putin against fighting crime. 24 % of Russians are satisfied with Putin for strengthening Russia’s position in the world.

According to a new statistical survey published in October 2023, approximately 80 % out of 100 % of Russians are satisfied with Putin’s activities as president. About 47 % of Russians are prepared for the amendment in the constitution, which will allow Putin to stay in power in a position other than that of the president. In March 2020, amendments were proposed to the body that will let Putin be the president of Russia until 2036. These amendments were supported by nearly 78 % of Russians.

The most significant achievement of Putin as president of Russia is the economic development of Russia; during his tenure, the economic development rate has almost doubled. People living below the poverty line decreased by half. Putin says his main goal is to remove the gap between low-income and high-income people. He is counted as the world’s strongest and most intelligent leader. Putin also had a pivotal role in the military modernization of Russia, both in terms of traditional and nontraditional warfare technologies.
